SCRIBES WORLD: OCTOBER, 2024

HELLO EVERYONE. Welcome back to SCRIBES WORLD. 

THIS MONTH we have something a little different. Due to scheduling changes, we are no longer featuring Peter Webb at Scribes on the 27th. Instead, the event will be a Halloween themed open reading for poets. 

I WOULD like to take this time to remind you that SCRIBES is a SAFE SPACE & that means no fuck shit. It is our goal that everybody feel safe & comfortable at all times in order to dive into the vulnerable sides of us that poetry demands. 

SCRIBES WILL not stand for any sort of hate, bigotry, abuse of power, etc.

THERE ARE certain social tenets that we must remain stolidly against, e.g. sexual predation, abuse, bigotry, violence, etc. These ethics are imbued in the SCRIBES ON SOUTH mission that I have of building a space for poets to feel comfortable experimenting in their work & exploring creatively. This is an act that takes much personal risk, & cannot happen if those in attendance feel uncomfortable or like they are in any sort of danger. 

THIS ALL being said, SCRIBES is still a place for, as I have said many times, experimenting. I will do my best as organizer to make sure SCRIBES remains in a state where it can actively support the poets who attend the events & are a part of the community. 

BRING YOUR wildest, most experimental poems. BONUS this month if they are horrific.
