Here is a poem by Julia.
Julia Gwiazdowski is a poet, musician, zine maker, and the resident Sappho of Philadelphia. She has a self-published chapbook of lesbian poetry titled 31 Days of Venus Aphrodite, illustrated by dear friend and collaborator, Jesse Arbor. Julia’s work has also appeared in Stone of Madness Press, Voicemail Poems, and MIDLVLMAG*. When she isn’t writing ekphrastic love poems in a West Philly coffee shop or screaming anti-capitalist lyrics in a South Philly basement, Julia can be found across the city dancing at goth nights, doing karaoke in dive bars, or watching horror movies with her friends. You can follow her on Instagram under the username @atreenamedjulia.
Here is a poem by Leila.
Leila El Manfaa is a wandering poet, prose author, and creature of the night approaching their writing and their world similarly- softly detached from reality and with an insistence on romance and space. They reckon with the darknesses of the human experience through this lens of tenderness, to hold a space of dreamlike drama where the magnitude of feeling can be honored. They have just landed home from their travels with stories of hermitage, love, and delusion to tell.
Here are the fliers for this coming month:
Thank you for being a part of SCRIBES ON SOUTH. Hope to hear your poems soon.
